Jun Kazama is a character in the Tekken series who made her debut in Tekken 2. She is the mother of Jin Kazama, having raised him alone after failing to save Jin's father, Kazuya Mishima, from Devil's influence. Jin presumes she is dead after witnessing her being attacked by Ogre on his fifteenth birthday, at a time when Ogre was attacking and killing participants of the second King of Iron Fist Tournament. Jun's official status, however, is "missing". She has had multiple cameos and references in every mainline game following Tekken 2 despite not canonically returning as a playable character until Tekken 8. In the non-canonical Tekken Tag Tournament 2, after being defeated in Arcade Mode, Jun transforms into Unknown, the final boss.
Jun returns as a playable fighter in Tekken 8.
Jun was a wildlife surveillance officer of the conservation group WWWC. She used Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts, a martial art that has been handed down the Kazama family for generations.
Jun grew up surrounded by nature on the island of Yakushima, where she was taught the ways of the Kazama-style martial arts and developed strong psychic abilities, before moving to Tokyo when she reached adulthood. While city life distanced her from spiritual surroundings, her father's ghost appeared to her, reaffirming her beliefs in the supernatural.
It was during her time in Tokyo, while working for WWWC, that she heard of a man named Kazuya Mishima, who was involved in the smuggling of protected animals. Also sensing a mysterious power surrounding Kazuya, Jun decided to enter the second King of Iron Fist Tournament to put an end to the illegal smuggling and to free Kazuya from whatever power it was that surrounded him.
At some point during this time, Jun and Kazuya became close, and Jun became pregnant with Kazuya's child. Eventually, Kazuya confronted his father, who defeated him in battle and subsequently disposed of his son's body in an active volcano.
Jun returned to Yakushima. She gave birth to her and Kazuya's son, whom she named Jin. There, she raised him in the mountains, teaching him the way of Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts as he grew up.
As Jin approached his fifteenth birthday, Jun began to sense the approach of a great evil. Concerned, she warned Jin that, should anything happen to her, he was to seek out his grandfather, Heihachi. On the day of Jin's fifteenth birthday, Jun's premonition came true when she was attacked by Ogre, who was seeking out the world's greatest martial artists to defeat them and absorb their abilities. Jin rushed to his mother's side to aid her in battle, but was easily outmatched by Ogre and knocked unconscious. When he awoke, he found his home destroyed and Jun nowhere to be found. Believing her to be dead, Jin set out to avenge her by defeating Ogre. Jun's true status after these events remains unknown.
A vision of Jun stopped Jin from killing Heihachi during the events of Tekken 4.
Jun is an officer of the WWWC, a wildlife protection organization. She is highly spiritual and can sense a mysterious power surrounding Kazuya. Besides her duty to arrest Kazuya, who smuggles protected animals, she wants to free Kazuya of his evil power during the tournament.
Kazama has been investigating our Rare Species Export Division for some time. She also seems to have some knowledge of our supernatural colleague. Suggest we use Wang Jinfrey [sic] to counter this threat.
Jun Kazama, an Animal Protection Officer for an environmental protection group (WWWC), uses Kazama Traditional Martial Arts, a martial form that has been passed down from generation to generation inside the Kazama family.
Brought up within Yakushima Island's abundant nature, Jun was instructed in the secrets of Kazama Aiki-Jujutsu, but unfortunately dwelling in Tokyo for a long period of time has cost her the ability to commune with Mother Nature.
One night, Jun saw her late father's spirit and came to understand paranormal phenomenon.
Jun has joined the tournament determined to arrest Kazuya for smuggling protected animals, and to release him from the mystic forces surrounding him.
The screen shows two birds flying over a forest. It then shows a chipmunk in a tree, nibbling on an acorn before looking up. A horse is shown looking up as well. A yellow bus drops Jun off at a forest area (presumably a protected wildlife environment). Jun steps off with the sun beaming in front of her as she breathes in the fresh air while closing her eyes blissfully. Suddenly, four various birds, a gazelle, the horse, and a chipmunk surround her. A bird lands on her shoulder as the chipmunk crawls up her arm and perches itself on her shoulder as well. She is then shown riding sideways on the horse being accompanied by three normal birds, along with a huge owl and the chipmunk, into the sunset. Jun gets off and peacefully walks towards the scenic view of the sunset before her.
Jun taught and trained Jin her Kazama self-defense fighting style. Years later, Jun sensed the approaching of great evil and told Jin that if anything should happen to her, that he should seek out his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima.
Jun's words proved to be prophetic, and sometime after Jin's fifteenth birthday, Ogre did indeed attack. Jun screamed for Jin to run away, but Jin wished to protect his beloved mother and prepared to fight Ogre in order to save Jun. Ogre, however, was too much for Jin and knocked him unconscious. What happened next is unknown, but by the time Jin woke up, the Kazama house was burnt to the ground and Jun was missing. Jin desperately searched for her, but she was nowhere to be found or seen. Jin assumed that Jun was dead and swore revenge on Ogre.
Jun makes a cameo appearance as a vision to Jin as he is about to finish off Heihachi. She briefly appears clad in white before him, before her face fades into a statue of the Buddha in the Hon-Maru shrine. This causes Jin to spare Heihachi's life and fly away while saying, "Be thankful for my mother--Jun Kazama". As Jin departs, he leaves behind a small flurry of black feathers, along with one single white feather.
In the Devil Within mode, Jin has heard that Jun may be alive. However, he does not find her anywhere. Instead, Jin confronts his worst nightmare, True Ogre, again.
Jun is seen and mentioned numerous times during the prologue for the Scenario CampaignMode for Tekken 6, in which Jin, Kazuya, and Heihachi retell the main events of the previous Tekken games. In this prologue, Kazuya Mishima describes how he met Jun. He also describes how he found her to be fearless and mysterious. Jin then describes how much he misses his mother and how he wishes that she were still with him. He then goes on to explain that he defeated Ogre in honor of Jun, also recapping his Tekken 4 ending where he spared Heihachi's life, then flew away after saying, "Thank my mother...Jun Kazama...".
